Youtube HD Video, And iPhone Firmware 2.2

Hey all,

Just read an article that Youtube has been playing around with 720P HD video embeds behind scenes. I find it very interesting, and the embed that I was watching on this site was taking a long time to download, which doesn’t surprised me one bit, since HD video takes a lot more space then regular video. Now this video is of Bwana (a popular person on the IRC network WyldRyde) talking about his thoughts and things you may not know about the iPhone Firmware 2.2.

But personally, I don’t mind waiting longer to watch a video, as long as it is good content, but from people like Bwana and Chris Pirillo, I wouldn’t have to worry about that at all.

Update - Well, because of this free hosting, I might not be able to do this considering that the adds that Godaddy adds in is conflicting with Wordpress’s programming that makes it put some coding in that makes it so the HD stuff can’t be embedded. Hope I can find a way to get around that till I can start paying for this site again.

Xbox 360 Update And IRC Back Up

Well, my IRC server is back up and running. I was having problems with the OS the IRCd was running on, but it is all up and running now :D. I know it’s been down for a while, but like usual, it takes me a bit to get around to do something.

OMG, I love the new Xbox 360 Dashboard that Microsoft has released today. I am surprised how good of a job they have done to the Dashboard after the update they released for the Hotmail design. I like the new avatar system that they have implemented into the game. I know it is kinda based off of the Nintendo Mees, but it is still a good idea for any gaming system.

I was supprised how quickly the update downloaded off the Xbox Live servers. I thought it would of taken a while because of all the people that would be downloading it in the morning. Three minutes and the whole thing was downloaded and installed, which isn’t bad in my opinion.

I have been using my Xbox 360 on my PC’s LCD monitor with the VGA cable, and have enjoyed it, with only problem till now, that the 360 never supported the exact resolution of the monitor. My LCD monitor max resolution is 1440×900, but till this update, the 360 had the closest of 1360×768. But it worked just as good for me, so I never complained about it, but now they have implemented 1440×900 into the VGA settings, so now I can use my monitors full resolution.

The only problem I find now with this resolution is that now there are black lines on the top and bottom of the Dashboard and in my games and it is annoying as hell. I would of thought that Microsoft would of implemented an update to the system to up convert everything to include no bars at all. But there is nothing I can do, except go back to the old resolution where the black lines are almost non existent, or just tuff it out till Microsoft does something to make it look better.

I am still waiting for the day that Netflix comes to Canada, more now then ever with the available option to stream Netflix movies to the Xbox 360. I think Netflix would be a lot better then the movie network on demand that I get with my cable provider since they don’t keep up to date with the latest movies that are released.

The only thing I could think of that would make this a way better experience is free Xbox Live, but then again we wouldn’t have such a good online service with the 360 then.

Blast From The Past

I know, I haven’t posted anything in a wile, but for the past week or so, I have found myself playing some old SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) games, and I have found myself addicted to those old games once again. Although they are old games, I still find them very fun, even for old 8-bit audio and video. I suck at most of those games now because of how long I haven’t played them in, but I have been getting the hang of them extremely quickly and have been getting a lot further in them then I have ever gotten since I have never completed an SNES game that I can remember (I know, that is pretty sad).

Super Mario World:

I would probably say this is one of the best SNES games out there, and for me, it is my favorite Super Mario game ever. It was fun from start to finish, there is so many hidden levels to find and beat, and some of them sometimes help you get around the game world a lot faster. The Mario games after this where alright, but they where lacking in some things that I would of liked to see in them that would of made them equal or better then Super Mario World.

Spider-Man & Venom - Maximum Carnage

Now this games is my second favorite SNES game. when they made this game, they made the cut scenes like a comic book, but then again, at that time, there wasn’t any voices in in video games that I know of. I haven’t gotten to far in the game, but the story was done very well, and is pretty compelling to keep playing. Although I suck at this game, I still like to play it and try my best to get farther and farther in it.

Aladdin

I usually don’t like games based off of movies, but this one is a fun one, and was done pretty well. I don’t think I have ever played an Aladdin game before, but this one is really fun, and takes a lot after the movie which is nice. The only thing that I don’t like is that the games seams to have a really fast pace to it, which I never really liked.

Tattiebogle.net - Mac OS X driver

I got to give props to Colin Munro, for making a Mac OS X driver for the Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller. I have installed it onto my Mac OS X 10.5.5 install and it works perfectly, just install the drivers, plug in the controller, and off you go. I just had to post about this and give a link to Colin Munro’s personal website where he has posted the drivers for the 360 controller and also the PS3 controller for those who are interested in that. Halloween Is Coming :P

I finally got hosting again, although it is free hosting from Godaddy, and they put the annoying add in that keeps pushing my site down and putting there little add to get domains from them. But this will do until I get the money to pay for hosting again. But unfortunately, that won’t be anytime soon I don’t think, but I am going to put a donation button on my blogs sidebar on the main page if you would like to contribute to help me get me back on paid hosting.

I tried to host my blog from my old PC that was laying around, but unfortunately the port that websites that are sent on are blocked by my ISP (Internet Service Provider), so I thought I would use Godaddy’s free web hosting and start my blog from scratch.

Well, I am out for now.
